Almac Group is currently seeking a Pharmacy Services Director for our Durham, NC location. The Pharmacy Services Director has overall responsibility for the global delivery and operations of the pharmacy services department. This department is comprised of pharmacists in charge (US facilities), investigational product pharmacists, and clinical operations pharmacists with staff in the US and UK.
The pharmacy services department provides clinical pharmacy expertise in the development of instructional materials and labels for investigational products, training of clinical site personnel on the proper handling of investigational products and dispensing of investigational products directly to patients in a home setting.
The pharmacy Services Director is a key member of the leadership team and represents Pharmacy Services on key strategic projects at a global and site level. responsibilities also include strategic planning, clinical and distributive services, financial management and personnel management.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Manage the global delivery and operation of Pharmacy Services Department. Direct the activities and productivity to ensure that the service delivery meets the needs of both internal and external clients in compliance with Almac Quality Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations of the State Boards of Pharmacy and other regulatory agencies when Almac distributes investigational product directly to patients in a home setting.
  • Execute pharmacy strategic initiatives focused on future state evolution, commercial market ROI, definition of operational models, pricing models, marketing plans and maintenance of a portfolio of solutions (e.g. performance, value, results).
  • Advance the development and commercialization of Pharmacy Services. Provide structure, guidance and a roadmap for supporting and growing the service offering
  • Oversee the management of the Pharmacy team including recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, resolving performance issues, coaching and mentoring.
  • Oversee staff development to help individuals achieve their full potential by providing relevant coaching and by identifying training needs. Ensure appropriate levels of professionalism, motivation, quality and confidentiality.
  • Develop strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures for departmental operation.
  • Assess, create and implement key performance indicators that promote a strong quality culture and provide Sr. Management with clear, identifiable and reliable data that helps assess company risk and performance.
  • Actively engage in global and site-level Manager and Senior Manager meetings on key quality, finance, customer, operational, and personnel objectives. Provide updates on key Pharmacy services initiatives and progress assigned actions within the agreed timeframe.
  • Meet with clients/customers on an as-needed basis to ensure that proper service and information is provided in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain an active pharmacist license in good standing without restrictions in the state of the Almac facility location with no lapses in licensure.
  • 15-20% Travel required



Qualifications:
Required Experience / Education:


  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, PharmD and/or MBA/MS Degree
  • Active, unrestricted pharmacy license in the state of the Almac facility location (NC)
  • 10+ years Clinical pharmacy or equivalent pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience
  • 7+ years proven Sr. leadership experience
  • 3+ years department level management
  • Pharmacy regulations
  • Pharmacy best practices in the healthcare setting



Preferred Experience / Education:


  • Active, unrestricted pharmacy licensure in additional states
  • Prior experience with direct reports across multiple locations
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Clinical research/clinical trial experience
  • Customer service/client relations
  • Communication proficiency
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to form good working relationship with all levels of staff
  • Must be meticulous, thorough, consistent, decisive, and assertive
  • Ability to work on own initiative
