Job Description

Under general supervision, the senior programmer analyst formulates and defines system scope and objectives through research to develop or modify information systems. This includes assisting in the preparation of, or preparing, detailed specifications from which programs will be written. The Senior Software Engineer designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains enterprise applications. The position requires hands-on expertise with Banner systems including Banner Job Submission, posting, data imports, data exports, baseline and modified C Programs, shell scripts and other Banner related processes as well as in-depth knowledge of functional business processes across all Banner modules. This includes the ability to develop and process data files and API imports/exports between non-Banner systems. In addition, the Senior Software Engineer will develop and support any necessary enhancements to Banner or other applications directed.

  • Support the development and technical functionality of UDC's business applications, including Ellucian's Banner (Student, Finance AR, Financial Aid, and Admissions).
  • Integrate enterprise applications with complex third-party applications, develop complex analytical reports, and develop new robust and secure reporting and transactional web applications using Oracle and other development tools.
  • Code solutions to problems using a structured approach keeping in mind long term maintainability and quick accessibility.
  • Test coded solutions properly against customer acceptance criteria to ensure a quality application
  • Document consistently and accurately on all application projects. All technical documentation (new development and maintenance) should be complete, understandable and accessible.
  • Communicate and maintain a productive working relationship with user base of product/service line as well as all appropriate parties to an assignment, both internal and external to IT.
  • Report appropriate and correct status to project leadership, manager and Director.
  • Improve knowledge in new technologies in order to use them in approved projects; participate on special projects as assigned.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years experience with various operative environments, toolsets and development methodologies
  • Extensive programming, business analysis experience with Ellucian Banner 8 and 9.
  • This position has a heavy focus on the AR(Account receivable module)
  • Familiarity with the Banner Admin pages, backend Banner database tables and job submission process flows as it relates to the Banner AR module.
  • Experience with Oracle Databases related to the development side.
  • Experience developing and supporting system data feeds and integration between Banner and other systems.
  • Experience developing advanced PL/SQL objects with robust error handling.
  • Understanding of RAD, SDLC, Client Server/Distributed Application Design and Development
  • Ability to collaboratively identify potential solutions and effectively communicate benefits
  • Ability to communicate effectively with teams, peers, clients
  • Must be motivated and be able to contribute to a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality of performance
  • Experience in Higher Education industry is a plus.
Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $84,835.61 and $149,076.17. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
