Position Highlights

* Position: Neuro Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (PA/APN)

* Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights, IL

* Hours: Full-time, 12-hour shifts

* Nights: Rotating to cover Neuro Hospitalist/Stroke position, shared between APP team

* Call: None

* Weekends: Rotating, shared between APP team

* Holidays: Rotating, shared between the APP team

Job Summary

Join a team of Neuro Intensive Care Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and Neurointensivists to manage Neuro ICU patients, including complex cranial and spine postoperative patients, complex head and neck reconstructive cases, hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, seizure disorders, and more. Work collaboratively with the Neuro ICU nursing staff to care for patients and provide patient/family education.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

1. Function as an APP within the Neuro Intensive Care Unit, performing a neurologic examination, rounding and managing neuro critical care patients, building differential diagnoses, and prescribing treatments

2. Procedures may include, but are not limited to, arterial line placement, central line placement, and lumbar punctures

3. Formulate individualized medical treatment plans in a shared-decision making model

4. Provide patient education, motivation, respect and empathy to the highest standard

5. Work within multi-disciplinary team as a resource and consultant

6. Attend and participate in department meetings and case conferences

7. Identify opportunities for and implement program growth initiatives

8. Positively contribute to safety outcomes, quality initiatives and promote high quality patient experiences

Qualifications (minimum requirements):

Minimum Education Level

* Completion of accredited program from either Masters level Physician Assistant Program OR Advanced Practice Nurse Graduate/Doctoral Level Nursing Program

Minimum Licensure Requirements

* Advanced Practice Provider Licensure (PA-C or APN-CNP) in the State of Illinois required

* Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required

Minimum Certification Requirements

* BLS/CPR certification and ACLS certification required

Minimum Work Experience

* Prior Advanced Practice Provider experience in an acute care hospital or surgical service setting preferred, but not required
