GSK is expanding its Oncology Research Unit (ORU) organization and is seeking experienced professionals to join our exciting journey.

The Director, Oncology Scientific Integration requires a deep understanding of oncology science, market dynamics, and planning to turn Oncology R&D strategy and strategic priorities into tangible actions to drive the success of our oncology portfolio. The role will work with the Oncology Research Unit leadership team and key cross functional partners to ensure key initiatives, such as our data and technology strategy, application of AI/ML, digital health technologies, are routinely applied across our Oncology discovery and development portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following.

  • Collaborate with the Oncology Research Unit LT, Oncology and other key stakeholders to advance the adoption, integration and the application of key scientific initiatives such as data and tech strategy, application of AI/ML and digital health

  • Work with the Oncology Strategy and Planning team to deliver the ORU Strategic planning processes that set ORU and PALT strategic priorities

  • Identify key inter-dependencies linking Oncology strategic initiatives to broader R&D strategic initiatives to strengthen connectivity and drive alignment

  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation by identifying new tools, methodologies, cross portfolio technologies that can be piloted and applied to our Oncology R&D portfolio to improve our success rates and decrease our cycle times

  • Drive the tracking of key project deliverables, with clear go/no-go decision points and associated milestones including critical path and sub-functional plans. Monitor progress against approved plans, noting deviations and suggesting corrective actions.

  • Develop and lead change management efforts to ensure novel scientific strategies or technology is embedded into new ways of working

  • Act as the Oncology Research Unit R&D integration lead for new acquisitions (as assigned)

  • Contribute to cross portfolio process improvement initiatives and bring in external perspectives and industry standard practices to advance the oncology strategy and pipeline

  • Continuously monitor scientific and technical trends in the Life Science sector to remain current of evolving landscape and for potential relevance to GSK

  • Proactively identify and escalate business issues and consider options to manage implications and risks to ongoing and future projects.

  • Provide regular updates to senior R&D leadership and relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure all projects comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal GSK standards.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Advanced degree in a scientific and/or business discipline (PhD and/or MBA required).

  • Experience in a management consulting firm.

  • Experience in drug discovery and development supporting the life sciences industry.

  • Experience with Planisware and/or MSProject.

  • Experience in program management, particularly in managing complex, cross-functional projects within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

  • Experience developing and implement change programs.

  • Experience understanding regulatory requirements related to global drug development.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Oncology experience.

  • Direct experience in biopharmaceutical Program Planning.

  • Highly effective communication skills; able to present complex data, design, strategy to groups at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to engage in, and contribute to, Oncology Research Unit Culture and broad GSK environment with confidence, impact, integrity, and professionalism.

The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $172,500 to $287,500 taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
