The Opportunity

The Department of English at the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) invites applications for two 9-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer positions with an ability to teach courses in technical communication. The positions will have a 4/4 teaching load with significant online as well as face-to-face teaching and are anticipated to begin August 2025. The candidates will primarily teach our introduction to technical communication course, ENC 3241: Writing for the Technical Professional, and may have opportunities to teach other upper-level electives.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master's degree (for instructor) or a Ph.D. or terminal degree (for lecturer) in English or related field from an accredited institution at the time of hire, and successful experience teaching technical writing (broadly defined) and/or working in the field of technical communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

Interest or experience in teaching introductory technical communication courses as well as upper-level electives, such as professional communication, project management, data visualization, collaborative writing, internal and external content management, information design, business writing, editing, publishing, and/or science writing. Interest and/or experience in hybrid and asynchronous online teaching.
