Job Description Summary

The Respondent Support and Prevention Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the design, development and implementation of interpersonal violence prevention programs and initiatives. This position is also responsible for providing specific support and advocacy to students responding to allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, sexual misconduct, and other related allegations in the community.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Provides support to students who are respondents in cases of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, sexual misconduct, and other related allegations in the community; duties include but are not limited to attending interviews, reviewing investigative documents, and attending hearings.

  • Assists in the implementation of training, education, workshops, and other outreach designed to reduce the prevalence of interpersonal violence on campus while raising awareness of healthy relationships, sexuality, boundaries, and norms.

  • Works closely with campus constituents, including, but not limited to the Office of Student Engagement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Conduct, and Athletics, to facilitate trauma-informed care for WFU students and harm reduction within the community.

  • Collaborates in the development and delivery of educational outreach presentations and other interventions for the WFU campus community on a variety of topics aimed at increasing prosocial interpersonal behaviors and reducing problematic interpersonal behaviors.

  • Provides consultation to the university community related to issues of interpersonal violence, with a specific focus on perpetrators of harm.

  • Educates students by providing information and assistance regarding campus processes related to sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and interpersonal violence.

  • Assists in the development of and delivery/collaborates across campus to develop and deliver curriculum and programming for our campus community that increases awareness regarding gender role socialization, internal and external impacts of masculinity, and opportunities for growth and healing related to masculinity; promotes gender equity and contributes to student identity development.

  • Serves as a liaison between the campus community and external resources which support respondents' healthy sexual behaviors and norms, in collaboration with other content experts

  • Partners with Health & Wellbeing department colleagues using a collective impact model to facilitate comprehensive wellbeing for the campus community.

  • Represents the Office of Wellbeing in community presentations and events.

  • Participates in departmental and institutional diversity and inclusion initiatives; ensures the delivery of culturally competent care for a diverse student body.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a human services or higher education-related field.

  • Knowledge of interpersonal violence, including gender related issues, masculinity, intersectional identity impacts, and other cultural influences on sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking.

  • Understanding of applicable privileged communication laws and the ability to manage confidential information and to use sound judgment in responding to crisis situations.

  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, administration, parents, and external agencies.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and digital communication skills, including public speaking, and use of relevant technologies.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think independently and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with and program for a diverse student population.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Previous experience with leadership development of gender-related issues, masculinity, identity impacts, and other cultural influences on sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and interpersonal violence.

  • Previous experience with respondent support in a higher education setting.

Accountabilities:

  • Responsibility for own work.

  • Repeated motions that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers.

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

  • Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.
