Summary of role

We are seeking a seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr. Director of Medical Communications to lead this function within Medical Affairs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of scientific communication and publication strategies, ensuring the dissemination of high-quality and impactful scientific information to both internal and external stakeholders. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in medical communications, oncology and/or neurology. The Sr. Director will also sit on the Medical Affairs leadership team and manage a team of directors responsible for publications, scientific communications, and medical information.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Leadership and Strategy:



  • Develop and execute the vision and expectations for the Medical Communications function across different therapeutic areas.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as an integral member of the Medical Affairs leadership team, contributing to the strategic planning, decision-making, and overall direction of the Medical Affairs department.
  • Collaborate proactively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, including Clinical Development, Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Public Relations, to ensure alignment and integration of scientific communication efforts.
  • Champion the importance of high-quality scientific communications within the organization, positioning the company as a thought leader in oncology, neurology and radiotheranostics.


Management and Team Development:



  • Manage and mentor a team of directors responsible for publications, scientific communications, and medical information, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to team members, ensuring alignment with the department's goals and objectives.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and support professional development opportunities for team members


Oversight for Publications, Scientific Communications, and Medical Information:



  • Oversee the team responsible for planning, development, and submission of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations for peer-reviewed journals and scientific conferences.
  • Set and ensure that the team meets goals and objectives aligned with the corporate and Medical Affairs goals.
  • Align development and implementation of communication plans to effectively convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences, including healthcare professionals, patients, and payers.
  • Review and ensure that all processes and communications are compliant with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and company policies.


Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:



  • Foster strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Key Opinion Leaders, academic institutions, and industry partners.
  • Represent the company at scientific meetings, conferences, and advisory boards.
  • Provide scientific expertise and support to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment of communication strategies with broader business objectives.


Basic Qualifications



  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in medical communications, publications, or related fields within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. Experience in oncology and/or neurology required.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing teams.
  • Extensive experience in medical communications and medical information.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory guidelines and industry standards (e.g., ICMJE, GPP3, CONSORT).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


Other Requirements



  • Radiopharmaceutical, oncology and/or neurology, as well as precision diagnostics experience is preferred.
