The Opportunity:

The UCF Office of Instructional Resources (OIR) is in need of an Audio/Visual Systems Design Engineer I to enhance our current team of A/V professionals. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Audio/Visual Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will assist the Manager of Design Engineering in the design, development, and implementation of audio/visual systems.

You will work closely with the Manager of Design Engineering, Project Managers, Procurement Specialist, programming team and the project services team to ensure the successful delivery of AV projects. The ideal candidate will have some experience with Audio/Visual Systems and/or Low Voltage systems design and engineering. They will collaborate with other teams and units at UCF, along with third party consultants as well, to ensure timely and standards-based installation of multimedia equipment across the university.

This is an auxiliary funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:



  • Assist in the design and layout of audio/visual systems, including sound, video, and control systems.

  • Collaborate with the rest of the OIR and UCF IT teams to develop system schematics and technical drawings for A/V systems.

  • Support the installation and configuration of AV equipment and systems.

  • Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements and constraints.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for AV systems.

  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to project planning and coordination.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures within UCF IT and OIR. This includes staff policies for telecommuting, administrative tasks, creating and maintaining documentation, outage communication procedures, and managing customer interactions.

  • Ensure all assigned Objectives & Key Results (OKR) and various metrics are met on annual basis. This includes departmental and individual Service Level Agreements on tickets and assignments.

  • Other duties as assigned.




Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree; or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Basic understanding of audio/visual systems and components.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawing and specifications.

  • Ability to read and understand Audio Visual System signal flow diagrams.

  • Proficiency in BlueBeam Revu software and other design tools.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
