Work Schedule
8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Monday - Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours required, as necessary.
Primary Purpose of Position
The Business Services Specialist performs various Human Resources and financial tasks that vary in complexity and require a high degree of judgment in preparing students, temporary employees and full-time staff for employment. A high level of detail and accuracy is required to ensure employees are on-boarded correctly and employment records management is maintained. University software programs such as Niner Works, Concur and Web Time Entry timekeeping are required. The position will also work with the Accounts Manager to reconcile student and temporary employee payroll. Other duties include the coordination of travel for departmental employees, tasks related to purchasing and audit compliance and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and one year of related office experience; or an equivalent combination of education
and experience.

University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from high school and demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through three years of specialized office experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Job Duties

  • The Business Services Specialist performs various Human Resources and financial tasks that vary in complexity and require a high degree of judgment in preparing students, temporary employees and full-time staff for employment.
  • A high level of detail and accuracy is required to ensure employees are on-boarded into their roles correctly and employment records are accurately maintained.
  • Effective use of University software programs such as Niner Works, Concur and Web Time Entry timekeeping are required.
  • Other duties include the coordination of travel for departmental employees, tasks related to purchasing and audit compliance and other duties as assigned.

Other Work Responsibilities

  • The position will also work with the Accounts Manager to reconcile student and temporary employee payroll and fill in as needed to support Business Services functions and Housing and Residence Life operations during critical transitions between academic terms.
  • Support of UNC Charlotte, the Division of Student Affairs, and the Department of Housing and Residence Life as needed within the assigned role.


Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education

  • Education and/or experience with Human Resources and business operation processes including student employment coordination, travel coordination and expense reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications (excel, word, powerpoint).
  • Experience with business services tasks including employee on-boarding tasks, travel coordination and expense reporting.
  • Capacity to navigate business services software including Concur, Niner Works, Kronos, Web Time Entry, and 49er Mart.
