Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: The Communications Specialist II writes and edits communications for a college, division, and/or the University. Develops and implements plans, activities, and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas. Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms, including digital and physical mediums.

Additional Department Summary: Reporting to the Director College Communications, the Communications Specialist will support the delivery and management of the College's marketing and communications strategic plan through oversight of digital advertising and production of editorial content, including interviews, articles, and profiles.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, and/or communications; OR master's degree and some experience in journalism, public relations, marketing, and/or communications.

Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement marketing and communications plans. Strong knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to content strategy, communications, and public relations. Experience with CRMs and/or email distribution platforms such as Mailchimp and AxiosHQ. Superior writing skills. Demonstrated knowledge in AP style. Strong organizational and project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks simultaneously while also meeting deadlines. Supervisory or leadership experience. Demonstrated fluency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud for the production of professional-caliber content. Knowledge of content management systems and graphic design standards for print and media. Knowledge of and experience with the use of major social media platforms for institutional marketing and communications purposes. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively make public presentations. Experienced with photography, videography, and editing of visual content. Ability to solve practical problems by relying on strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Advertising, English, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a closely-related field.
