Operating Room Technician

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY)is adding a Research Fellow to the Research group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln. The Hospital is part ofNYC Health + Hospitals. Lincoln is a designated Level I Trauma and Stroke Center and has Centers of Excellence in all medical specialties including its award- winning Cancer and Breast Centers.

• Ensure the operating room is clean and organized
• Assist in patient positioning and preparation for surgery
• Monitor and maintain sterile fields during procedures
• Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon during the operation
• Manage surgical specimens for laboratory analysis
• Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment and machinery
• Assist in counting sponges, needles, and instruments to ensure they are not left inside the patient
• Provide support in case of emergencies or complications during surgery
• Transport patients to and from the operating room
• Update and maintain patient records and documentation
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimum patient care
• Participate in post-operative care and clean-up
• Stay current with new surgical techniques and advancements

• Certification from an accredited OR Tech training program
• Previous experience working in a surgical setting
• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
• Advanced knowledge of surgical instruments and techniques
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends
• Experience with robotic surgery equipment
• CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Professional membership with organizations such as the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST)
• High school diploma or GED
