What You'll Do:

Promote Safety. Work with SHE department and company officials to promote a safe work environment that meets all state and federal rules and regulations. Ensure that the plant meets all SHE policies and practices at the site location. Administer and enforce company and area policies and procedures.

Supervise. Supervise dispatcher order taking, timely delivery, and customer service. Approve time cards. Authorize and maintain dispatcher schedules. Track vacation usage. Develop and establish performance measurements for department. Establish practices and develop resources to meet or exceed goals and objectives.

Coordinate and Schedule. Schedule dispatch staff and trucking to support daily, weekly, and monthly sales forecast to meet customer needs. Perform and coordinate job site activities, acting as a liaison between customers, haulers, sales, and dispatch. Oversee scheduling of the company fleet and external haulers. Manage the daily interaction with the independent haulers.

Work with Various Departments. Assist accounts receivable in investigating disputed invoices, stand-by time, missing tickets, and missing ticket times. Communicate driver performance, attendance, and customer service issues to appropriate managers. Participate in the recruitment process, which may include screening and hiring employees. Discuss project and customer needs with Sales and Technical Services.

Review Reports. Review daily order entry for completeness and accuracy. Review, approve, and maintain daily reports.

Train. Provide training, coaching, and disciplinary counseling to your employees. Identify training needs to address dispatch and customer service issues.

Champion Continuous Improvement. Work closely with inside and outside sales personnel on value drivers and issues impacting customer satisfaction.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Education. Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, construction management, or a related degree is preferred. Bilingual is preferred, but not required.

Experience. Minimum of 3 years work experience in construction materials or related industry is required. Previous supervisory, customer service, and logistics experience is required. Independent contractor management experience is preferred.

Functional Knowledge. Must have a good understanding of the aggregate and asphalt business functions, as well as key drivers for sales, logistics, and customer satisfaction. Must have knowledge of the construction industry, including materials and project management. Knowledge and understanding of a plant operation (aggregate, asphalt, ready mix, or sales yard) is preferred.

Safety and Environmental Knowledge. Must have knowledge of environmental and safety regulations in trucking and terminal operations. Must have knowledge and understanding of D.O.T, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization. Must be able to supervisee, attract, retain, and motivate staff. Must have the ability to resolve conflicts involving dispatchers, customers, and sales department.

Flexibility. Must be able to work both indoors in an office or outside in a quarry or plant. Must be able to work a varying work schedule. Must have the ability to develop creative solutions to address issues with customer service, logistics, and job sites.

Time Management Skills. Must have the ability to work in a stressful, deadline oriented environment that requires complex, technical information and decision making. Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

Ready to Drive. Must be able to drive a pick-up truck on a daily basis.
