Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The College of Engineering and Technology is comprised of the departments of Computer Science, Construction Management, Engineering, and Technology Systems. The Laboratory Supervisor reports to the faculty member who is assigned as the Instructor of Record. |
Job Duties |
The Laboratory Supervisor is expected to demonstrate a high level of professional behavior and maintain a positive professional relationship with all laboratory stakeholders including, students, faculty, and staff. In addition, The Laboratory Supervisor is expected to:
A. Collaborate with faculty to achieve instructional objectives in the laboratories.
B. Supervise students in the use of assigned laboratories to insure that students are in a safe learning environment and to support course expectations and outcomes.
C. Insure that laboratory activities are in compliance with University policies and procedures as well as the
CET Safety Policy.
D. Interact with
CET faculty and staff to support effective delivery of lab instruction, which may include, but is not limited to: (1) overseeing students within the laboratories (2) notifying faculty/staff of the need to enter work orders for repair or to rearrange laboratories, (3) request fabricating of special items or modifications needed for the lab.
E. Supervise and provide instruction on laboratory procedures to students as requested by the laboratory instructor (Faculty of Record). Provide instruction to insure that students are appropriately trained in the safe use of all laboratory equipment and facilities. Document all training, including the names of students who received each type of training. Verify that safety training has been completed on requests for student access to laboratories. In conjunction with the Laboratory Coordinator and/or laboratory instructor (Faculty of Record), enforce those procedures and policies, ensuring all personnel using laboratory facilities have had the proper training.
While the Laboratory Supervisor supports laboratory instruction, they do not serve as a Faculty of Record for any class or laboratory and do not assign final grades to students.

2 years experience and a Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field.
Qualifying degrees must be conferred from an appropriately accredited institution. |
