Add to favorites Favorited View favorites Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $56,600 - Midpoint: $73,600 (Salaried E9) Department/Organization: 208301 - Biomedical Sciences Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm Job Summary: The Biomedical Researcher I contributes to the planning and design of biomedical research and creative projects. Performs supporting research and creative activities such as data analysis, monitoring outcomes, performing lab maintenance, and/or performing experiments and creating creative projects. May assist in short- and long-term planning and project goals. May assist with research and creative proposals and dissemination of project findings. Additional Department Summary: Serves as an investigator on research studies for the Department of Translational Science and Medicine at UA's College of Community Heath Sciences (CCHS), under the direction of senior faculty. Research will be focused on biomedical research - polymer synthesis, bioconjugation, characterization, and their application to drug formulation. Conducts required activities as the administrator/PI of the required research project(s), including data analysis and monitoring outcomes. Meets all required university and federal compliance and reporting requirements. Writes grant applications and contributes to ongoing projects. Assesses and interprets data. Independently designs, conducts, and reports on research activities. Directs and mentors undergraduate and graduate students in research practices, and oversees work of Institute staff engaged in research projects. May assist in both short-term and long-term planning and project goals, as well as in research and creative proposals and dissemination of project findings. Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of biomedical or closely related research experience; OR master's degree or higher and some biomedical or closely related research experience. Post-Baccalaureate degree is highly preferred (Master's degree or higher). Skills and Knowledge: Ability to conduct independent and collaborative research. Full understanding of framing research questions, research design and methods, and project implementation. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent computer skills, including databases, standard software platforms, spreadsheets and statistical analysis. Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and three (3) years of relevant research experience, to include strong publication record and demonstrated experience in research study design and project implementation; understanding and adherence to good experimental practices including data collection, curation, and storage. Experience conducting research projects relating polymer synthesis, bioconjugation, characterization, and their application to drug formulation. Experience in development of bioanalytical methods based on LC-MS for non-clinical applications and drug screening.
