Overview: Vanderlande's Site Management Department is responsible for the Installation and project execution of Material Handling Systems, Airports, Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortationsystems for our customersthroughout North America. The increasing number of new projects and their geographical spread means the team is growing and expanding. You will report hierarchically to the Manager of Site Management, and daily to the Site Manager or the Project Manager. In this position, you will be working within a Site Management project team to manage the installation of baggage handling, automation or parcel sortation system. You will be responsible for the high-quality installation of a specific equipment (family) and to ensure the equipment is installed with efficiency, against the project specifications and technical requirements. Position Summary: A Mechanical Supervisor I will Supervise the installation, assembly, dismantling, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and leads successful on-site installation, servicing and repair processes of complex equipment, and systems without direct supervision. You will follow detailed work instructions and amend any outdated or incorrect instructions with help of Engineering teams. You will make improvements to training guides and documentation. This role is up to 100% travel and it is expected to work 55 to 60 hours per week with overtime after 40 hours worked. Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities):
- Manage a small noncomplex project independently with a team of 10-30 team members and tasks
- Works with industry-specific and high complex precision machines including but not limited to High Speed Sorters, All types of conveyors, hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors, etc.
- Supervise with fitting bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors and connect belts according to manufacturer's blueprints and drawings
- Supervise with the dismantling of machinery using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
- Supervise with the unloading, inspecting, moving and setting of equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers , and trucks
- Supervise rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls ,and come along to move equipment / materials into place
- Will work closely with the Vanderlande Site Manager to manage several groups of leads and installers
- Will have to ability to manage multiple of personnel and tasks
- Play a leading role in the execution of specific equipment which includes managing quality, time, budget & provision of information
- Ensure working within the project safety plan
- Providing input and support to the Site Manager and the Commissioning & Testing team
- Create daily, weekly and monthly project status reports
- Understanding & managing the interests & expectations of all stakeholders
- Assure site quality
- Acquire commissioning support
- Coordinate electrical field change orders/estimates.
- Coordinate punch list
- Oversee receiving, distribution, site warehouse and documentation of materials.
- Oversee procurement, create supply chain status report.
- Troubleshooting site installation issues
- Ensure the feedback loop toward engineering and R&D
- Ensuring every task is done with a commitment to Vanderlande values and safety rules and regulations
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- 4-6 years of experience as in mechanical installations
- Ability to meet all physical demands - see below
- Experience using industrial lifting equipment, hand tools and power tools
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to work 7 days, as needed
- Must have a solid understanding of most VI and Buy-out
- Experience using industrial hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of industrial machinery and equipment
- Working knowledge of cables, ropes, hoists, and chains
- Experience using industrial lifting equipment, hand tools and power tools
- Experience using industrial hand tools and power tools
- Must possess organization and time management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Very knowledgeable of the Vanderlande way of working, plans and specs
- Ability to manage mechanical and electrical installers in a way to ensure time for commissioning and testing requirements
- Track record of excellent leadership capability to create a unified and motivated project team
- Able to obtain necessary badging required for all project assignments, such as TSA badging to work on Airports
Required Education:
- Former/technical education
- Knowledge of math concepts, geometry, and layout
- Knowledge of Microsoft office software
- Ability to read blueprints, schematic drawings and engineering specifications, and understand how to read and interpret technical manuals in order to determine work procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working as a mechanical installer on a new construction project
Preferred Education:
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 40 plus hours a week, overtime is paid after 40 hours. Must be willing to work 7 days a week with paid overtime. Travel: This position may require up to 100% travel. Supervisory Responsibility:Though this role will have no direct reports, it will occasionally require leading, supervising, and directing the work of journeymen, helpers , and laborers. - Substantial to extensive amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting ,and lifting
- Will talk and hear to communicate
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- May require picking up, lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50lbs.
- Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work from platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements
- Working in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE
- Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration and high noise levels
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots

The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.
