This position will support and assist the network operations areas of Payment Integrity and Claims with respect to legal inquiries, formal/sensitive correspondence and internal development of policies in these areas. This position is NOT an attorney position and will have no responsibilities giving formal legal counsel. A main focus will be interpreting legal/regulatory requirements and their business implications at the federal and state level with potential advocacy on proposed changes nationally (e.g., NAIC). This position will support the teams and assist the business operation with development of sensitive correspondence and conversations. This position will act as a liaison with internal and external legal teams as needed.

Required Qualifications:



  • 8+ years of professional experience
  • 5+ years working for one or more health care organizations, insurance company systems government agencies, or similar organizations
  • Experience interpreting and driving business implementation of major legislation and providing risk analysis of changing market forces
  • Experience leading through ambiguity and evolving business models
  • Experience with legal memoranda and legal communications to business leaders with concise summaries of issues
  • Expertise working with legal documents, drafting and editing contract terms
  • A broad and flexible set of key skills and attributes, including the ability to: analyze business strategies and assess the valid, regulatory, and contractual risks and drive innovative risk-mitigation tactics; communicate effectively with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders, translating policy-relevant analysis into business-relevant analysis and vice versa; write effectively, and think strategically and creatively in a dynamic environment
  • Located in Central or Eastern time zone

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
