Overview

Job Summary: Patient Accounts Specialist (PAS) works under the immediate supervision of supervisors/managers in Patient Financial Services (PFS). PAS positions perform complex tasks requiring critical thinking skills and experience-based (specialist) knowledge in PFS. The HB Enrollment Specialist is responsible for reviewing and vetting all credentialing and enrollment denials for both facilities and physicians. This role involves collecting and processing significant amounts of verification and accreditation information, maintaining close communication with Managed Health to ensure records are up-to-date and consistent, and processing accounts in a timely manner to meet deadlines. They may also be responsible for identifying and resolving credentialing issues to include provider research, payer regulation review and claim corrections.

Key Responsibilities:

Work in Epic Work Queues to ensure accounts are reviewed and followed up on timely to avoid missing timely filing deadlines with payers.

Maintain close communication with Managed Health to ensure enrollment efforts are completed timely.

Ability to make challenging decisions for when to adjust claims as unrecoverable or rebill claims for reimbursement.

Ability to prioritize work and facilitate many Work Queues and initiatives at one time.

Understand payer guidelines for enrollment and affiliations.

Understand facility and departmental structure of Atrium Health.

Requirements:

Education, Experience and Certifications:


High school diploma or GED required. Two-years' experience in related financial services or healthcare business office required. College (bachelor's or associate) degree preferred. Requires the ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats. Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook required. Prior healthcare computer system and specifically Epic billing experience required.
