Position Description

North & Central Illinois Division

Peoria Area Command, Peoria IL

Position Title: Part Time Custodian, late afternoon & evening hours. 3-8 P.M.

Report To: Facilities Manager

Pay Grade: 402

Pay Range: $15.75 - $18.90

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma, equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of.

Experience: Individual must have specific knowledge and work experience related to general housekeeping, tools, equipment, and supplies. Current knowledge of work safety guidelines strongly desired. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English and be able to perform simple mathematic calculations. Must have the ability to understand and follow verbal or simple written instruction.

Must have valid driver's license and be able to pass annual motor vehicle check; individual must be willing to become familiar with and support the mission of The Salvation Army.

Pre-employment requirements will include a background check; must be dependable and able to work on own with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities:



  • Satisfy the cleaning of the Peoria Area Command complex. Sweep, mop floors, vacuum carpets, clean bathrooms, wash walls, wash windows, kitchen cleanliness and break rooms.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all hallways for the assigned locations including mopping and sweeping. Ensure the baseboards are kept clean.
  • Ensure trash receptacles are cleaned daily.
  • Organize the janitorial supplies, including paper products, chemicals and cleaning necessities to be available for the needs of The Salvation Army.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of maintenance storage and work areas.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices
  • Successfully satisfy the training requirements associated to the position and as required by The Salvation Army.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Position Ranking:

Regular Part Time, Non-exempt. Late afternoon, evening hours. 3-8 PM.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

Must be capable of performing the above essential duties in both outdoor and indoor environments. Work will be done in a temperature-controlled environment and outdoors during all weather conditions. Must be able to lift to fifty pounds frequently and up to one-hundred pounds occasionally. Scope of duty includes standing for periods of time. Individual must have the ability to be around cleaning chemicals.
