Overview

The Payroll/Accounts Payable Processor will work closely with the Payroll Manager and will undertake a variety of tasks such as entering payroll information, calculating wages, and maintaining records. The position will also provide support to Accounts Payable (AP), processing invoices and other activities.

This is a full time, benefit eligible position, working Mon - Fri, 8:30 am to 5 pm, in-person in west Berkeley.

Benefits

COVID-19 Vaccine Policy

Responsibilities

    Processing payroll for employees, including issuing checks and direct deposits
  • Provide support to AP teams during non payroll weeks, and as needed.
  • Support Payroll Manager on payroll discrepancies
  • Maintaining payroll records and reconciling discrepancies
  • Communicating with HR regarding employees and operations about payroll issues and changes
  • Ensure accruals are up to date; coordinate with Benefits Administrator to verify leave of absence accruals
  • New Hires: Maintaining employee payroll files and new hire information, produce new hire reports
  • Onboarding Process: Present Payroll piece during new hire orientation
  • Terminations: Coordinate with HR to deliver final check for exit interview
  • Process, copy, and deliver manual checks, coordinate check signatures
  • Review timesheets for the accuracy of allocations, extract reports to update payroll
  • Ensure timecards are completed in a timely manner; follow up with staff as required to ensure payroll is submitted on time
  • Auditing: Assisting AP and payroll with audits
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Payroll maintenance- help with year end closing. Box up processed payroll to send out to storage cleanup year and help prepare for the next


Qualifications

  • Experience with Financial Software
  • Proficiency with MS Office/Excel
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles
  • Display of strong customer service orientation
  • Strong organizational, administrative, multi-tasking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
  • Work effectively under pressure in a positive professional manner and to be flexible and adaptive to change
  • Ability to seek direction/approval on essential matters, yet work independently with little onsite supervision, using professional judgement and diplomacy
  • Work in a team-oriented environment with several professionals with different work styles and support needs
  • Conduct oneself in internal and external settings in a way that reflects positively on Lifelong Medical

Job Requirements

  • One plus years of experience in Payroll or other related fields
  • Proficient in MS Office and Financial Software
  • Strong customer service approach to problem solving and conflict resolution

Job Preferences

  • Experience with diverse employee populations and multi-location organizations
