Position Summary

The University of New Mexico College of Nursing (CON) is seeking a Program Specialist to provide day-to-day specialized programmatic and administrative support to the Office of Clinical Affairs. The Program Specialist in collaboration with the Clinical Placements Director will work to meet the clinical education demands of the college by developing, fostering, and recruiting clinical partners/preceptors.

Duties for the Program Specialist will include the planning and coordination of the recruitment and retention of preceptors statewide to provide experiential clinical opportunities for undergraduate/graduate nursing learners. The Program Specialist will oversee and administer all facets of the development and implementation of systems and processes for effective data base utilization internally as well as by preceptor and partnering healthcare agencies. This role will facilitate the compliance of each nursing student in accordance with clinical partners, accrediting bodies, Board of Nursing, Federal, State, and institutional policies/guidelines. Additional duties include writing, editing, and coordinating the development of promotional materials, training manuals, and newsletters in support of program objectives. Responsible for outreach via phone, email, or in-person with new and existing clinical partners. This position requires travel to clinical sites, trainings, special events, and professional conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Database and project management
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Working in a health-related and/or academic environment
