Supplier Quality Engineer -Kapco Grafton, WI

Kapco is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Grafton, WI team. The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that materials and components sourced from suppliers meet Kapco's quality standards and specifications. Responsibilities:


  • Collaboration:

    • Work with suppliers to implement process improvements and quality enhancement programs.
    • Perform detailed drawing reviews - collaborate and specify critical product requirements with Engineering and Purchasing to translate customer needs into supplied product requirements and specifications.
    • Define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product requirements.
    • Integrate quality requirements into product designs and processes.
    • Complete APQP activities with suppliers - lead risk and failure analysis to ensure functional specification requirements are fully met during process validation and PPAP.
    • Assist in the development of dimensional control strategies with suppliers.
    • Assist in the design and procurement of gages and instruments with suppliers.


  • Documentation and reporting: Develop, implement, maintain, and improve key metrics and records - supplier performance monitoring, cost objectives and audit results.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Manage SCAR analysis, work with suppliers directly to create corrective action plans to address process failures and prevent recurrence. Provide structured problem-solving support - reactive (field failure or testing) and preventive (mitigate NPD risk).
  • Supplier Evaluation and Selection: Support purchasing with the supplier approval process by assessing supplier manufacturing process capabilities
  • Quality Audits: Perform supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality requirements and industry standards, drive process standardization, waste elimination and continuous improvement.
  • Training and Support: Support and coach team members and suppliers on quality standards and expectations. Coach in the use of fundamental APQP tools (PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Process Validation Plans and Production Control Plans).
  • Quality Control: Oversee incoming inspections and testing of materials and components. Develop and implement quality control plans and inspection criteria for incoming materials.
  • Additional Support: Provide supplier quality support for all manufacturing sites and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering and related disciplines including implementing and applying quality tools such as APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, PPAP, SPC and GD&T.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of or experience working in an Advanced Product Quality planning role.
  • Auditing, ISO 9000 and TS 16949 experience.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Shainin Red X.
  • Willing to travel as needed (up to 20%).
