Work schedule will be primarily weekdays during day shift. One weekend day/month is required, along with working some holidays.
Job Responsibilities:
*Comprehensive assessment and management of adult inpatients with disorders of swallowing, selecting evaluation procedures that reflect an in depth understanding of the patient's diagnosis, abilities, and limitations. This includes ability to perform clinical swallowing evaluations and treatment, modified barium swallow studies (MBSS), and flexible endoscopic evaluations of swallowing (FEES).
*Comprehensive assessment and management of adult inpatients with acute disorders of speech, language, and cognition.
*Patient and caregiver education regarding evaluation findings and management of care recommendations
*Communication of patient care and discharge needs to healthcare team members, arranging for appropriate follow-up as indicated
*Completion of clear and thorough written documentation in a timely manner in accordance with facility and departmental guidelines
*Serve as a clinical resource to colleagues and other medical professionals
*Stay current with advances in speech-language pathology assessment/treatment techniques through attendance of professional meetings, continuing education, and reading of current literature.

Master's Degree Speech Therapy required

Speech-language Pathologist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology [CCC-A] - American Speech Language Hearing Association preferred Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology [CCC-SLP] - American Speech Language Hearing Association preferred

Experience
speech pathology experience 0-1 year preferred acute hospital experience 0-1 year preferred

Prior independent MBS and FEES experience (conducting and interpretation) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity of diagnostic assessments for speech language.
- Employee must have strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to incorporate new clinical procedures sufficiently to perform clinical services independently.
- Ability to perform functions associated with contemporary audiology and speech-language pathology scope of practice.
- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Knowledge of state standards, federal and state regulations.
