Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Central Sterile Technician.

In this role, the successful candidate The Central Service Technician is responsible for the processing of operating room instruments as well as the sterilization and decontamination of instruments and patient care equipment

Job Responsibilities:

• Understand the concept of even related shelf life inspects and stores items without compromising the integrity of the sterile items
• Shows knowledge and skill in the disassembling and assembling components of specialty instruments for cleaning and sterilization
• Cleans and decontaminates all reusable items from patient areas following appropriate guidelines
• Handles High level disinfectants in a safe manner
• Prepares instruments for Sterrad and Steam Sterilization
• Monitors the efficacy of the sterilizer daily cycles
• Operates Steam and Sterrad sterilizer machines Cleans sterilizers when needed
• Performs sterilizer monitoring with chemical and biological indicators
• Operates all equipment including steam gun sonic machine Washer/Decontaminator and Nitrous Oxide cylinder for power equipment testing
• Prepares all type of scopes for sterilization
• Manually washes and disinfects heat and moisture sensitive and specialty items
• Inspects and report defective/damaged instruments to supervisor
• Test instruments for proper function
• Sees that tray/sets left back from previous shift are completed and returned to user in a timely matter
• Shows knowledge of instrumentation Is able to identify trays/sets using the computer pick sheet
• Has knowledge of the Impress Instrument Tracking System
• Prepares and bags instrument sets for shipment

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent CPD and/or Operating Room background preferred Knowledge of supplies OR instruments and equipment Operating Steam Sterilizers Washers/Decontaminates and Sterrad machines Provisional certification is acceptable 400 hours of on hands training will need to be achieved prior to expiration of the provisional certification.

Preferred Licenses: Cert-Central Service Tech

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $66,259.40 - $69,027.20 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
