Visiting Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences

Job Summary

We seek an individual who is (1) passionate about teaching undergraduate biology and neuroscience-related courses and (2) invested in student success. If you desire to make a difference in the lives of undergraduate students, the School of Health, Life Sciences & Education in the Getty College of Arts & Sciences at Ohio Northern University invites you to apply for a visiting faculty position to begin August 20, 2025. Review of applications will begin February 9, 2025 and continue until the position is filled.

Principle Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be a broadly trained scientist interested in teaching biology and neuroscience-related courses, including but not limited to, cell biology, anatomy & physiology, and topics in neuroscience research. The successful candidate will also offer versatility in teaching or co-teaching other undergraduate biology courses. Ohio Northern University faculty teach 2325 credit hours per academic year. Additional responsibilities include service to the School and College. Questions concerning the position should be directed to Dr. Jay Mager, j-mager@onu.edu.

Required Skills:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to inclusive pedagogical strategies that engage today's students, experience with contemporary and traditional neuroscience/neurobiology laboratory techniques, strong interpersonal skills, and the interest and ability to mentor students both inside and outside the classroom. Candidates with expertise to teach neurobiology, cell biology and/or anatomy & physiology, are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline is required. An ABD will be considered if all degree requirements are completed before September 1, 2025.
