TITLE: Certified Medical Assistant (Program Assistant, U17) UNIT/DIVISION: Student Well-Being, Health Services, Center for Health & Counseling Services/ JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of Associate Director of Health Services, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for the daily operations of the medical office, including, but not limited to, scheduling appointments, answering phones, data entry and ordering office and medical supplies. The CMA provides professional customer service, receives patients, provides them with information requested, and acts as the liaison between department staff and callers; supports the work of Health Services in various aspects; able to handle multiple tasks while prioritizing department needs. Exercises mature judgment, discretion and confidentiality. Performs a variety of office management tasks such as accounts receivable and payable. Maintains immunization records and helps prepare annual immunization report. Assists as needed with patient care activities including preparing patients for examination, obtaining and recording patient vital signs, phlebotomy, administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections as delegated by the Nurse Practitioner or Collaborating Physician. Assists the medical providers with various aspects of patient care procedures. DUTIES
Hours may vary depending on the needs of the department and College and will include certain evening hours and holidays when college classes are in session. Occasional weekend work (e.g., Admitted Students Day, Open House, First-Year and Transfer Orientation) will be required. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree and a Medical Assisting Education Certification, accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education of the American Medical Association. Note: Applicants who do not possess the required education, but possess the Medical Assisting Education Certification, accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education of the American Medical Association, may substitute required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 credit hours is considered one year of college.) Note: Applicants, who possess an Associate's degree and post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education of the American Medical Association, may substitute two (2) years of position-related experience for the remaining two (2) years of education. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Experience with EMR is required Familiarity with Google Workspace |
