Job Summary Provides financial aid student services program support, advisement, processing, and information by performing the more technically demanding program support tasks, including extensive responsibilities for student advising, counseling and financial aid processing. Coordinates office workflow and provides training to other staff members. Participates in financial aid outreach program to include presentations, training and assisting students through the financial aid application process. Ensures program compliance by review and monitoring of student files, reports, and student issues. Conducts system testing and makes recommendations as needed. Works with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students and the public. Essential Functions 25%- Provides oversight to all financial aid processes including Student Information System (SIS) reports, verification issues, determination of need, awarding and award adjustments, as well as assists with maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting SIS 20%- Performs more technically complex and difficult Title IV and non-Title IV processing, researches complex financial aid problems to provide guidance and assistance to staff members as needed. Researches, analyzes and, interprets federal and state regulations to ensure organizational compliance and to respond to inquiries 15% - Provides specific program administration and oversight (i.e. Pell, Direct Loan, Federal Work Study, Scholarships, etc.) to include, but is not limited to reconciliation 10% - Responds to more complex escalated student/parent inquiries in-person and via telephone 10% - Prepares, designs and maintains correspondence, reports, presentations, program materials and documentation 10% - Prepares and conducts staff training, provides work direction, and provides information and make recommendations regarding financial aid program guidelines and business process 10% - Coordinates workflow and the implementation of policies and procedures and other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered. Special Requirements Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License, and/or First Aid certification, and/or National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) certification may be required for some assignments. Desired Qualifications A. Three (3) or more years of recent experience (within last 12 months) working in a financial aid office with knowledge of; Title IV, campus-based aid, federal and state mandated policies, and scholarship programs. B. Three (3) or more years' experience providing customer service to a diverse group of students and/or parents while working in a financial aid office of higher education. C. Three (3) or more years of recent experience (within last 12 months) performing the more technically demanding financial aid duties (i.e., application review, verification, packaging student aid, performing manual authorization of aid, Professional Judgements, etc.). D. Three (3) or more years of recent experience (within last 12 months) using federal databases such as Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), FAFSA Partner Portal (FPP). E. Three (3) or more years' experience (within last 12 months) using computer technology in the delivery of programs and services (i.e., PeopleSoft (SIS) and Microsoft programs, (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Special Working Conditions May participate in a hybrid work schedule (working from home and office). During peak months August and January, the work schedule may be 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM. Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements. Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense. Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations. May require some evenings or weekends. May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen. May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs. Must not be in default or overpayment of federal financial aid funds.
