Summary of Job Duties:Shift: M - F, no weekends/major holidays

The Patient Services Associate is a trained member of the unit-based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. The PSA works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The PSA must pass the required competencies. The PSA works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PSA adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Plus one (1) year of Patient Care experience in a health care setting

  • CPR Certification (BCLS) within 3 months of employment

  • Successful completion of patient care technician course within 3 months of hire

  • Computer experience desired

  • Ability to communicate with staff, patients/families following Guest CARE guidelines

  • Ability to follow Oral Instructions, Read and Write

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Assists patients with direct patient care.

  • Accepts direction from RN and team members and follows through on delegated patient care activities.

  • Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measures and assists patients with mobility-related activities.

  • Accurately and promptly documents all patient care tasks, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, and I & O's per unit and department standards.

  • Obtains patient reports and communicates with RN regarding patient care. Informs nurse of patient requests or complaints.

  • Carries out Plan of Care for patients using a Multidisciplinary Approach delegated by Team Leader.

  • Communicates effectively with other team members to facilitate patient care. Assists patients and visitors with information and/or solutions to problems. Serves as a resource to support department members in performance of duties. Notifies appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention.

  • Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.

  • Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
