Department Summary

We are a team of highly experienced and collaborative bioinformaticians and we are seeking a qualified intern to help us leverage state of the art AI for healthcare. Your work will involve research and development of AI based bioinformatics applications for multiple kinds of biological data, particularly next-generation sequencing (NGS). Working on the crossroads of state of the art in AI and bioinformatics will equip you with the skills and experience of applying AI in improving patients' lives.

This internship position is located in Santa Clara, USA on-site.

The Opportunity

  • Assist in the analysis of high-throughput biological data, such as Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data, using established computational tools and pipelines.

  • Perform quality control, preprocessing, and basic statistical analysis of biological datasets.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of computational algorithms or scripts to process and analyze biological data.

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in computational biology, genomics, and bioinformatics through literature review.

  • Summarize relevant research papers and contribute to the understanding of current trends in the field.

  • Assist in creating clear and informative figures for presentations and reports.

  • Work collaboratively with team members and researchers to understand project goals and contribute effectively to ongoing research initiatives.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)

Required Education : You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must have attained a Master's Degree.

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors:

  • Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics.

Required Skills:

  • Proficiency in a programming language (Python and R).

  • Ability to work in a Unix-like environment on an HPC compute cluster.

  • Strong algorithmic and problem solving skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • Machine learning knowledge would be valuable.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $40-$45 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
