Leads a zone management team consisting of several facilities in a geographic region. Can include multiple sterilization modalities. Has P&L responsibility for the facilities in the assigned zone.

What you'll do as the Director of Plant Operations

Operational Excellence (25%)



  • Ensures all facilities are aligned with and compliant to corporate safety and health requirements.
  • Audits and improves continuous improvement program and assimilation to STERIS Business System (SBS).
  • Participates on Global LSC to define lean strategy for the division, division KPIs, determine business areas of focus for network-wide kaizen events o Measures and Countermeasures Key Performance Metrics on a monthly basis to drive improvements
  • Critically evaluate facility actions within a region for value-added content v. waste and standardization at all points of the value stream. o Has P&L responsibility for the facilities in the assigned zone.



People Leadership (35%)



  • Ensures there is a strategy and plan in place to increase business performance through the development and continuous improvement of talent.
  • Executes strategic plans with action plans and key performance metrics
  • Raises talent level among leadership positions using Talent Assessment tools to improve attraction, development, and retention.
  • Utilizes performance management and compensation processes to further achieve those goals.



Customer Relationships (20%)



  • Primary point of Customer contact at the regional/zone level regarding all facets of product processing. This includes delivery, shipment, processing, and quality issue resolution.
  • Active involvement in Customer visits (OTOG) and Business Reviews.

Delivering Results (20%)




  • Ensures performance across a range of activities and metrics within their area at the region/zone level:

    • Customer Service: Ensure Customer processing needs are met from inbound receipt of product to return shipment.
    • Ensure accuracy during product processing to eliminate Customer product damage and quality related issues (NC/CC). Investigate Quality issues as they arise.
    • Continuous improvement in performance to safety and health statistics such as recordable and lost workday cases, near miss events etc.
    • Ensure compliance to applicable local and federal regulatory requirements (FDA, OSHA, EPA, NRC)
    • Engage workforce through use of Lean Principles to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost (SQDC).
    • Manage area expenses to ensure P&L targets are achieved.
    • Recommend, submit, and manage capital projects through to completion.
    • Leads and/or participates in acquisition integration activities




The Experience, Skills, and Abilities needed

  • Bachelor's Degree (Business, Engineering, Science)
  • Plant management, including leading a complex operation in a fast-growing, Customer-drive environment
  • Working with Sales and senior leadership to make capacity decisions that optimize resource utilization and Customer experience
  • Leading senior leaders
  • Manage multiple sites both individually and recognizing and responding to common themes, synergies
  • Ability to make sound strategic decisions using available data, including internal capacity, market trends and Customer intelligence

Pay range for this opportunity is$114,500.00-$171,675.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Employees (and their families) may enroll in our company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, health savings account, voluntary benefits, supplemental life/AD&D plans and the company's 401k plan. Employees are covered by an employee assistance program (also available to household members) and long-term disability. Full-Time Employees are also eligible for short-term disability. Full-time Employees will also receive Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service and paid Holidays. Part-time employees working 20 or more hours receive a pro-ration of the full-time PTO allocation and paid Holidays based on their standard hourly work week. Full-Time employees are eligible for four weeks of paid parental leave. Part-time employees also receive paid parental leave, pro-rated based on their standard hourly work week.
