FINANCIAL SERVICES SPECIALIST

Reporting to the Practice Manager, this position is responsible for assessing, coordinating and clarifying all patient-specific financial aspects of care for patients and families referred for organ transplantation; to include financial approval, benefit explanation and financial counseling. The Transplant Financial Coordinator is a designated member of the transplant team who will work with other members of the transplant team, insurers and administrative personnel to help facilitate access to and financial coordination of services along the entire continuum of transplant patient care. The Transplant Financial Specialist will also interface with billing and reimbursement activities to support such activities and to follow reimbursement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Associate Degree/Technical School Graduate preferred
• one year experience in hospital admitting and insurance verification
• Experience in patient accounts/finance preferred.
• Experience in working with insurance companies and HMOs required.
• Must be familiar with insurance language, requirements, and exemptions.
• Clinical experience and knowledge or patients with acute or chronic disease preferred.
• Must be able to interact with patients of all ages, utilizing age specific skills and competencies, based on patient learning needs, chronological maturation, emotional status and cognitive ability.
• Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.
• Computer skills essential, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must be able to type 45wpm.
