The Department of Pediatrics at West Virginia University Research Corporation is currently accepting applications for a (Hybrid) Clinical Research Coordinator. About the Opportunity This position will provide high-level, day-to-day support for the WVU School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. This position will provide day-to-day project oversight that includes timely and effective completion of assigned project activities in collaboration with the full Team; managing the work; potentially assisting with the planning, and overseeing and participating in the recruitment for and conduct of focus groups and interviews with research participants; conducting analysis on quantitative data, and assisting with the writing of scientific abstracts and manuscripts as well as grants based on this work. What You'll Do
- Work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other senior project leadership to provide day-to-day oversight.
- Provide ongoing project monitoring to ensure project progress is on schedule, and work with senior project leadership to brainstorm and address any project delays.
- Provide oversight and coordination Team to facilitate a collaborative, high-performing, collegial, and energized team environment.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among other evaluation partners and stakeholders.
- Prepare reports for partners on the project's evaluation activities and findings.
- Serve as a direct contact to project partners and stakeholders.
- Oversee and participate in the planning, recruitment, and conduct of focus groups and interviews with research participants as well as data analysis and interpretation.
- Aid in coordinating virtual quarterly meetings as well as annual in-person meetings.
- Assist the PI with team and partner discussions to facilitate decision making and problem solving, foster collaboration, address stakeholder feedback, and share and celebrate achievement of project milestones.
- Work with the PI and the WVU Department of Pediatrics, Pediatric Research Unit to ensure effective and accountable budget monitoring.
- Present project analysis and recommendations to the project's senior leadership related to project strengths, challenges, opportunities, and threats with the goal of enhancing project accountability and effectiveness.
- Adhere to WVU School of Medicine standards, processes, and procedures in the management and coordination of the evaluation project.
Qualifications
- Master's degree or PhD in public health, psychology, sociology, social work, public administration, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience in the following:
- As a research or project manager in medical, mental health, or public health-related research or evaluation, or in project management.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualification must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the mission, goals, and policies of the Pediatric Research Unit.
- Knowledge of evaluation methodology in a community setting with a focus on health-related topics.
- Knowledge of program development and management.
- Demonstrate organizational skills to plan and prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication skills (oral, telephone, written, face-to-face) and ability to perform in a professional manner in a variety of settings and with individuals of various backgrounds and skill levels.
- Ability to manage multiple project activities with an appropriate degree of attention to detail.
- Ability to see the interconnectedness among multiple aspects of a project.
- Effective public speaking skills.
- Skilled in the proficient use of computer software including the use of spreadsheet, word processing, video-conferencing software, web-based survey and presentation programs, and file management. Specific skills in survey development programs (Qualtrics, RedCap) and data analysis software (Stata) are preferred.
- Ability to work in flexible environments including using video-conferencing software.
- Ability to present findings graphically including tables, charts, and concept mapping.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse levels of individuals, such as administration, faculty, staff, office personnel, community leaders and partners, funding agency representatives and vendors.
- Ability to work independently with unstructured supervision.
- Ability to problem-solve, to reconcile differences, to resolve last minute crises in a successful manner.
- Ability to organize information, to reach conclusions, and to compose reports.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel independently for project functions
- Ability to communicate in English using proper grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation.
- Ability to maintain proper attendance and punctuality standards.
