NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs:

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.

If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.

Salary Range:

$99,400 - $164,100

*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.

If so, Organization 00157, Creative Services, is currently seeking Team Leads, Communications to lead the Organizations 00157-1 (Printing & Events) and 00157-2 (Design).

In these roles, one will report directly to the Manager, Creative Services and collaborate closely with others to drive the success of Sandia's initiatives.

Successful candidates will have a strong background in creative arts and experience managing creative teams. They will be passionate about supporting Sandia's national security mission and have a curiosity for science and technology.

  • Motivate teams to deliver high-quality work while continually innovating to meet diverse communication needs across generations of employees

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with peer managers and staff throughout Sandia

  • Collaborate as a leader of a creative team and as part of the management team in creative processes

  • Lead the development, planning, production, and quality control of audiovisual communication products that support Sandia's national security mission

  • Ensure products meet professional standards, following review processes and coordinating with the Communications Group

  • Facilitate collaboration among designers, writers, producers, and other creative professionals to ensure message consistency and quality

  • Serve as a resource for executives and staff to understand Creative Services' offerings and prioritize departmental work

  • Explore and integrate new technologies and techniques to enhance workflows and content quality

  • Build partnerships across Sandia to ensure consistent messaging and branding

  • Collaborate with the Manager, Creative Services on hiring, performance, and professional development

  • Recommend strategies to motivate employees and improve production methods and efficiencies

  • Coordinate with management to deliver products aligned with mission goals

  • Exhibit a leadership mindset and embody Sandia's core behaviors



Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite 70% of the time.

Qualifications We Require:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Art, Fine Arts, Film, Professional Writing, Design, Communications, Business, or a relevant field, plus 5 years related experience; or equivalent experience and/or achievements that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of the job

  • The ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance



Candidates selected for interviews may be requested to provide portfolios that contain at least 3 professional-level videos, designs, or writing samples.

Qualifications We Desire:



  • 1 year experience managing people in a corporate environment

  • Demonstrated experience in any the following areas:

  • Multimedia creative development (i.e., video, print, design, photography, radio/podcasts, event management, or writing)

  • Leading teams to develop and complete projects in collaboration with various levels of management in a fast-paced environment

  • Driving innovation and managing long-term projects

  • An understanding of the Associated Press Stylebook or Chicago Manual of Style

  • Familiarity with Fiery and print production, including Government Print Office requirements and equipment procurement and safety

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • The ability to translate and realize creative visions within a team

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on people first

  • Knowledge of metrics and data-driven decision-making

  • The ability to mentor employees on work tasks and organizational requirements

  • Strong organizational skills; the ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks

  • The ability to model behaviors that reflect Sandia's values (e.g., fostering belonging, providing opportunities for all, and demonstrating courage, connectedness, and purpose)

  • An understanding of Sandia's policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols

  • Experience handling sensitive information and classified materials (e.g., management of Vault Type Rooms)

Sandia Communications is responsible for external and internal communication functions for a $4 billion national security lab with about 16,800 employees. Security Clearance:
