Your Opportunity

The Extension Manager is responsible for integrating new or (refocused) processes and putting it in a form that allows regional production to take it and implement it.

Core Responsibilities
  • Meets with the local production managers and trainers to walk through steps (train the trainers) and go through message points laid out by director.
  • Develops strategies for integration of processes.
  • Identify on farm opportunities connecting across regions for standardization.
  • Ability to use charts, graphs, animations, multimedia content to develop and design education and training materials.
  • Acts as a change agent to identify and drive production continuous improvement projects for the organization.
  • Coaches' management in tactical execution of strategic plans.
  • Responsible for following all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield Foods subscribes.
  • Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
  • Reads and understands the company's emergency notification process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Animal Science, Business or related field and 2+ years of experience in a leadership role; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills and be detailed oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to use Continuous Improvement methods to manage projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement continuous improvement plans.
  • Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office Excel and Power Point.
  • Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, innovation and ability to operate autonomously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Location to be determined with 50% travel.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
