Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate for the department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The Postdoctoral Associate will develop, optimize, or apply existing genome-scale approaches to understand the mechanisms of virulence, immune escape, and antibiotic resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • The candidate will design and implement experiments independently with input from the adviser and collaborator(s).
  • Must have experience in Mycobacterium tuberculosis culture and manipulation under BSL2 conditions.
  • Must have expertise in general molecular biology methods, RNA methods, protein expression and purification, and experience in sample preparation and bioinformatic analysis for RNA-seq and proteomic studies.
  • Must have Data Science expertise (preferably certification), including data analysis using Python and R.
  • Participates in weekly lab meetings.
  • Prepares experimental data for publication and grant applications independently with minimal input from adviser and peers.
  • Maintains accurate records of laboratory notebooks and research activity; reviews literature and prepares manuscripts and abstracts for submission; presents findings at national/international meetings.
  • Mentor graduate/undergraduate students as needed.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Qualified candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences or related disciplines.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of previous experience in molecular biology, including RNA studies, required in addition to expertise in Data Science and culture/manipulation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
