The Office of Admissions is seeking a higher education professional with experience in event planning, coordinating campus tours, community engagement, and customer service to fill our vacant Assistant Director of Admissions (Visitor Center) position. The Assistant Director of Admissions for the Visitor Center provides support and planning for UT Dallas' Office of Admissions, specifically related to the University's Visitor Center operations and events. Primary responsibilities include development and implementation of the undergraduate campus tour experience and prospective student events, as well as prospective student support.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience in college admissions, student advising, student recruitment, or related field.
Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of related, progressive work experience.
  • Experience overseeing, managing, or coordinating visitor center services and events for prospective students, high school counselors, college advisors, and other educational partners.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Salesforce CRM, or comparable software platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of the UT Dallas Visitor Center with Visitor Center operations, including developing and coordinating student-led campus tours/group tours and delivering campus tour informational presentations.
  • Participate in planning, coordinating, and hosting events for high school counselors, college advisors, prospective undergraduate students, and special student populations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with departments across campus to facilitate participation in prospective student events and undergraduate recruiting initiatives.
  • Support the Director with coordination of efforts between the Office of Admissions Visitor Center, Undergraduate Recruiting, and Welcome Center Teams to create and foster a welcoming, responsive, and supportive environment for prospective students.
  • Serve as a point of contact for escalated complaints and difficult customer service situations.
  • Collaborate with leaders in the Offices of Admissions and Enrollment Operations to identify existing challenges and partner with other teams to work toward solutions and achieve shared goals.
  • Represent the Office of Admissions through membership and participation in relevant professional organizations.
  • May represent the Office of Admissions in interdepartmental meetings.
  • Support, mentor, and supervise Visitor Center staff and student assistant employees.
  • May participate in on-campus and off-campus prospective student recruiting and other admission-related events, which may involve travel and/or work after regular business hours and on weekends.
  • Participate in all assigned training, meetings, and events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Requires the ability to sit or stand at will for extended periods frequently throughout the workday;
  • Requires the ability to perform frequent to constant repetitive keyboarding functions to complete work tasks;
  • Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally;
  • Requires the ability to travel by car and airplane.

THIS POSITION MAY REQUIRE OCCASIONAL TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF REGULAR WORK HOURS, INCLUDING EVENING AND WEEKEND TRAVEL.

  • Understanding of conflict de-escalation and resolution techniques to handle difficult and sensitive student and customer service situations


Remote Work Notice
Following successful completion of an initial training period, a hybrid work schedule may be available, subject to business needs and departmental approval. Employee must be located within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area and have the ability to be on campus for work activities as scheduled and/or with 24-hour notice. Completion and approval of a UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required, and use of personal computer, internet, and other standard equipment may be required. Remote work arrangements are subject to regular review and re-approval and may be cancelled.
