Temple University's Main Campus-Facilities Department is searching for a Locksmith II.

Hourly Rate: $35.57

Position Summary
The Locksmith II is responsible for door access and security at the Main Campus buildings. Responsibilities include repairing, installing, and opening locks, making keys, and changing lock combinations.

Secondary duties include Carpentry, Electrical and Painting jobs. Locksmiths would be expected to perform the skills encompassed in these secondary jobs, such as door repair and replacement, control wiring associated with card access and all electronic locking devices, door closers, ADA openers, minor demolition, light carpentry, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
* High School education and/or equivalent.
* Five (5) years of directly related experience in installing and repairing all types of locks, door closers, exit devices, cylindrical and mortise locks, and related hardware.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills and Abilities
* Must have a valid US driver's license or ability to obtain one.
* Knowledge of various types of locks, door closers, exit devices, and related hardware.
* Knowledge of the various types of file cabinets, desk lock hardware and maintenance, replacement and rekeying of all other locking hardware, and installation, repair, and maintenance of these locks and related hardware.
* Ability to read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings, diagrams, and specifications, along with the ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the job.
* A focus on high-quality work and efficiency.
* Ability to operate machinery and hand tools associated with maintenance and construction.
* Ability to maintain a working knowledge of safety protocol related to electrical work, including lock-out/tag-out procedures.
* Ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Excel, MS Word & Outlook).
* Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines, including, but not limited to, safety, civility, information security, and adherence to discrimination policies and procedures, including Temple University's Affirmative Action Plan.
* Adaptability to changing work priorities and meeting deadlines and schedules.
* Ability to manage multiple collaborative tasks and projects while working cooperatively as part of a team in an environment that often has constant interruptions and distractions.
*Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, along with the ability to comply with OSHA and other code and safety regulations.

Preferred
* Knowledge of "Best Keying Systems" is highly desired but not essential.
