What you'll do

As an Industrial Engineer(IE) - Lean Practitioner new grad at Viasat, you are joining a growing and dynamic group of Lean Practitioners. You will be integrated into the broader IE team in both Duluth and across the organization.

In this role, you will play a key part in analyzing and improving the performance of manufacturing lines. Your primary tool will be Discrete Event Analysis using ProModel. Partnering with a Senior Industrial Engineer, you will identify inefficiencies, design data-driven solutions, and implement process improvements to drive operational excellence. You will work on optimizing workflows, minimizing waste, and enhancing overall productivity while contributing to Lean initiatives that foster a culture of continuous improvement. This role provides an opportunity to directly impact the success of the organization while building your technical expertise and problem-solving skills.


The day-to-day

Your daily responsibilities will include gathering and analyzing manufacturing data, running simulations in ProModel, identifying areas for improvement, and presenting your findings. Expect to engage with cross-functional teams to collect data, explain insights, and support the implementation of solutions. From on-the-floor observations to troubleshooting real-time challenges, your work will focus on driving efficiency and supporting the seamless operation of the manufacturing processes. Each day will offer new opportunities to learn, innovate, and make a measurable impact.

This position is located onsite. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility. Viasat offers the following pre-determined start date options for incoming US Early Career hires:

  • Monday, May 5th, 2025
  • Monday, June 2nd, 2025
  • Monday, July 7th, 2025
  • Monday, August 4th, 2025

What you'll need

  • Completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher between August 2023 and May 2025 in a technical discipline such as Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Operations Research, Engineering Management, or a related field
  • Internship, Co-Op, or other experience in Industrial Engineering, Change Management, Continuous Improvement or similar role
  • Exposure to Discrete Event Simulation and preferably ProModel
  • Proven ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences with professional poise and business maturity
  • Proven ability to own and lead change implementation
  • Broad understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and other Industrial Engineering methodologies
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% (domestic)
  • US citizenship is required for this position

Salary range

$54,500.00 - $77,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $68,000.00- $92,000.00/ annually
