What you'll do

Viasat is seeking a talented and self-motivated Communications and Business Analyst Intern for the Government Services and Solutions business. The position combines the skills of a traditional business analyst, analyzing data to identify business insights, with strong communication abilities to effectively convey findings and recommendations to stakeholders across different levels of an organization.


The day-to-day

Day to day responsibilities for this intern include:

  • Requirement gathering: Conduct interviews and workshops with stakeholders to understand business needs, identify pain points, and document detailed requirements for projects or system improvements
  • Data analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources (internal systems, market research, customer feedback) to identify trends, patterns, and potential opportunities
  • Communication strategy development: Create communication plans to effectively share insights and updates with relevant stakeholders, including leadership, project teams, and end-users
  • Report writing and presentation: Develop clear and concise reports, presentations, and dashboards to visually communicate key findings and recommendations to decision-makers
  • Process improvement: Identify inefficiencies in existing business processes and propose data-driven solutions for optimization

Internship Program Details:

  • You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12-13 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams.

  • Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility.

  • To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.


What you'll need

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, business, communications, or a related field
  • To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively present complex information to diverse audiences
  • Understanding of business operations, key performance indicators (KPIs), and industry trends
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Familiarity with tools like Power BI and/or Tableau
  • Familiarity with project management software like Monday.com
  • Ability to identify root causes of issues, analyze options, and develop practical solutions
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, implement solutions, and manage project timelines
  • US citizenship is required for this position

Internship Dates:

  • You must be available for the full duration of the 12-13 week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars:

    • Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 - August 15th, 2025

    • Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 - September 12th, 2025

Salary range

$20.91 - $56.97 / hourly.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $25.96 - $67.07/ hourly
