Role Summary:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Drafter is a key member of the engineering team. The Drafter is responsible for generating electrical wiring and physical drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation. These drawings show the physical arrangement of panels or substation layouts and associated electrical circuitry.
Exciting work you will do:
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Drafter will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Generate and/or revise schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, physical equipment assembly drawings and layout drawings from engineer/designer sketches or marked-up drawings
  • Assist engineers and/or designers in drawing retrieval, plotting, running prints, scanning
  • Generate steel designs and layouts of panels, cabinets, and enclosures and their associated drilling and mounting details
  • Review and update drawings to include bill of material changes
  • Review and validate manufacturer drawings
  • Other duties as assigned

What you'll need:

  • Work Experience: Certified training in computer aided design or 2 years of experience using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Education: Certified training or associates degree; or equivalent experience
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office products
  • Organization Skills: Highly organized and detail-oriented; ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed; ability to work in fast-paced, continuously evolving environment; ability to follow direction and procedures
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; provides excellent internal and external customer service
  • Communication Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal skills; strong analytical skills; ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Physical Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to temperature conditions and noise levels prevalent in an office environment. Work conditions at customer sites, which may be actively under construction, vary from indoor to outdoor industrial & electric utility facilities that may have high voltage equipment.
  • Travel: Limited local travel with some off hours as required
  • Driver's License: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license


Skills we prefer but don't require:


  • Education: Associate's degree in CAD Drafting Practices or related field
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to read electrical drawings
