Applied Controls is a manufacturer's representative of industrial process controls, serving the oil & gas, refining, power, chemical, food & beverage, cement and general industry. The Engineering and Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the Engineering and Operations functions for Applied Controls System Integration

Some of the exciting things you will do in this role...

  • Directly manage and supervise the Project Engineering, Production, Safety, Field Service, and Subject Matter Expert functions within the company.

  • Participate in the supervision of the Contracts Administrator function together with the VP of Sales and Marketing.

  • Monitor workloads for personnel to assign work activity as necessary

  • Monitor human resource needs to recommend hiring of new personnel to the Company Presidents as applicable

  • Screen candidates for new openings and perform the corresponding personnel selection activities

  • Oversee and perform onboarding activities for new hires

  • Perform annual performance appraisals for current personnel and 90 days appraisals for new hires

  • Monitor training needs and schedule training as necessary

  • Issue performance corrective actions for personnel performance as necessary and handle personnel dismissals as necessary

  • Coordinate weekly project review meetings and follow up on actions as necessary

  • Monitor budget performance for projects being executed and follow up on any recommended actions as necessary

  • Coordinate weekly production status meetings and follow up on actions as necessary Coordinate status reviews for service jobs and follow up on actions as necessary

  • Provide technical assistance to Engineering and Purchasing staff with system designs and applications

  • Directly manage customer state specific shelter system building requirements and code compliance

  • Monitor the effectiveness of internal processes and recommend adjustments as necessary

  • Provide scheduling support for the field service personnel

  • Monitor personnel adherence and exercise corrective action as necessary to company policies including general policies, safety policies and quality system policies and processes.

  • Recommend continuous improvement activities

  • Interface with customers to promote the company as needed, provide attention to issues requiring support for customers and to provide presentations about the company's capabilities

  • Provide support to New Proposals as a member of the Proposals

  • Review Group Participate in specification reviews for potential new orders

  • Interface with Accounting for the proper invoicing of completed jobs as necessary Provide attention to the safekeeping of company assets in general

  • Monitor the general housekeeping of the office areas

  • Serve as the primary focal for the building security system and employee secure access

A must...

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a similar role

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • Masters Degree preferred

  • Strong leadership

  • Highly effective organization and management skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication with customers, vendors and coworkers Project Management Processes and Software
