This position will support and optimize MCC's Color Management process mainly focusing on our various digital print platforms and technologies. Activities surrounding this position include but not limited to the following: equipment standardization, calibration best practices, G7 implementation, new customer onboarding, color quality, process improvement, business transitions and multi-site output consistency. This position will use data to develop, measure and drive performance improvement of our digital assets. Delivering consistent color quality across MCC locations and digital platforms is critical to the success of this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and support for all Color Management functions within the plant.
  • Support digital color-related needs such as corrective action responses and investigations, press approvals, fingerprinting presses, development and maintenance of profiles and color look up tables, best practices, streamlining solutions in relation to software and hardware, press sheet reviews and scorecard programs, controlling plant curves and databases.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Best Practices Team to develop and drive color quality, standardization and productivity improvements across all digital assets.
  • Support image assembly by providing and maintaining proofing profiles, DFE and related color strategies, proofing devices and support, review of all color materials related to new or change artwork.
  • Support the Commercial team as a technical resource to assist in customer presentations related to digital printing and capabilities.
  • Maintaining all records and work instructions related to Color Management within MCC's digital operations.
  • Assisting Quality where a strategic technical resource is needed surrounding Digital press Color Management.
  • Implement, support and maintain a G7-centric environment allowing work to transfer between print processes.
  • Standardize and establish best practices workflows using data to drive change.
  • Provide a centralized repository for color related materials, best practices and documentation.
  • Drive color quality and consistency improvements.
  • Measure plants performance to MCC's specifications using press data and job history.
  • Qualify and measure color performance to MCC specifications.
  • Work through color issues with customers using data to facilitate resolution.
  • Create and maintain fingerprint forms and files to assist in business transfers-insuring receiving plants fingerprints are completed and color strategies properly set.
  • Review and establish best practices using automated tools to drive consistent results for all print technologies.
  • Define specifications for capturing, reporting and sharing of digital press data for the purpose of review and communication.
  • Provide support for all facilities regarding cost saving initiatives.

    • Manage Color Standards in Color Cert
    • Management of DFE and Color Strategies
    • Processing of Files for Digital Assets (9 Digital presses)
    • File manipulation - Unwind Direction / # across changes
    • Organization of Daily Work - Job Jackets from IA/CS and alignment with Scheduling for all digital presses
    • Management of Color Standards / Press Proofs and Digital Color Library

Qualifications:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Below are the minimum requirements of the education, experience, knowledge, and skills required to competently perform in this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
    • A four-year college degree in a graphics related field; or 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in running digital presses, managing color and/or graphics arts.
    • Expertise with prepress and color management software solutions including, but not limited to: Esko, GMG, HP Indigo, Hybrid, Measure Color, and graphic project management software.
    • Experience with Radius and/or Globetek ERP is preferred.
    • Expertise in digital file preparation, color management and strategies for digitally printed output.
    • Associate must have a working and technical understanding of the various digital printing platforms and technologies including, but not limited to: HP Indigo, hybrid inkjet/combination presses, Domino, etc.
    • Intimate knowledge of Color Management processes and workflows. This includes Color measurement devices and software that collect data to evaluate press performance and drive process improvements.
    • Esko/HP/IdeAlliance/G7 certifications are a plus
