What You Will Do In This Role:
Verify PLC code (check someone basic, advanced, and complex areas.
Document, program, and test host interfaces.
Develop emulation checklist.
Schedule pre-commissioning meetings.
Develop commissioning checklist.
Verify final commissioning plan from PM for concerns, with minimal assistance. Lead commissioning efforts on-site.
Assist other engineers in hardware and software troubleshooting techniques. Check and approve all system drawings.
Verify design (check someone else's work) of advanced areas (such as Shipping or any type of Merge).
Check drawings and BOM for compliance to department standards and customer specifications.
Develop composite for cabinet location and network routing. Define the entire safety system design approach.
Identify all scan points and barcode requirements.
Coordinate scanner vendor requirements/information on drawings.
Identify special mounting or brackets that are required for system.
Coordinate these needs with Installation, Mechanical Engineering, and other groups as needed.
Participate in schedule review, aligning ME/CE segments.
Break a quote into different segments and understand how long a segment will take and the cost involved in that segment/task.
- Dissect a quote. Know system, products, and where in quote to find information
- Compare sales/estimating documents with company and customer standards.
- Separate the hours of a project into tasks required to complete the project.
- Schedule and facilitate Hardware, Software, Safety and System Tech reviews.
- Develop staffing plan, without assistance.
- Develop implementation plan and submit to Manger, without assistance.
- Strive to complete milestones per project schedule.
- Track project financials.
- Communicate and document project risks, overruns, and underruns.
- Generate and track overruns (ORAs) and underruns, including plans to mitigate risks.
- Identify and coordinate all required third party contacts.
- Ensure Standard Work and department processes (such as the use of checklists) are followed.
What We Are Looking For:
- Requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or closely related field and 5 years' experience as a Controls Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Commissioning Engineer or closely related occupation.
- Also requires 3 years' experience with software platforms including AutoCAD Electrical, Maestro, RSLogix 5000, Factory Talk, Allen Bradley PLC/HMI Software, ASIMON, SOPAS, and Profibus; testing and commissioning electrical and software aspects of conveyor and sortation systems using NEC, NFPA and UL electrical codes; forecasting and tracking project budgets using SAP; performing compliance checks on other engineer's documents and schematic drawings
- planning, specification, and implementation of engineering design projects; guiding complex material handling systems; testing and commissioning electrical and software aspects of conveyor systems; installing and configuring material handling system controller hardware and software
- performing controller troubleshooting and implementation of issues resolution; using fieldbus protocol conversion and conversion devices; motor controls, tuning VFD's, performing FLA calculations for size motors and transformers, and technical writing for operational descriptions; testing E-Stop and safety relay circuits; troubleshooting electrical control systems related to power distribution and material handling equipment; and using and calibrating photo-eyes, scanners, and barcode readers.
- Up to 40% travel is required to various unanticipated locations. Pre-employment processing for this position requires drug testing and passing background checks. Telecommuting permitted from anywhere within the U.S.
