The Operations Manager will be a key leader in the newly established Intelligent Imaging Informatics (I3) group within the Department of Radiology at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I3's mission is to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) and imaging informatics technologies to advance St. Jude's goal of Finding Cures and Saving Children. This role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, strategic execution, and cross-functional collaboration to advance I3's clinical and research objectives.

Overseeing daily operations of I3's four verticals (Clinical Imaging Informatics [CI2), TumorMetrics, 3D Lab, and Image Quantification & Artificial Intelligence [IQAI, the Operations Manager will ensure efficient workflows, optimal resource allocation, and seamless team coordination. Acting as a key liaison between internal teams and external partners, this individual will foster collaboration and effective communication across initiatives and stakeholders.

As I3 expands, the Operations Manager will play a critical role in developing scalable processes, optimizing team coordination, and implementing strategic initiatives to support growth. This position offers the opportunity to solve complex and sometimes ambiguous challenges through strategic planning, execution, and continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Manage the daily operations of I3's four verticals, ensuring efficient workflows, resource allocation, and seamless team coordination.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of processes and procedures to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams and external partners, fostering communication and clear collaboration.
  • Monitor project timelines, budget allocations, and staffing needs to ensure objectives are met and resources are effectively utilized.

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate closely with the I3 Director to develop and execute strategic initiatives and operational plans that align with I3's mission.
  • Assist in goal setting, performance tracking, and outcome-driven decision-making to advance key objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and resource optimization to support growth and scalability.
  • Lead the operational expansion of I3, including onboarding new staff and integrating resources as the team grows.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Support staff development of staff by coordinating training programs tailored to I3's evolving needs.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation, ensuring teams remain motivated and engaged.
  • Provide leadership in cross-vertical coordination, ensuring alignment across I3's operational priorities.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms and performance evaluations to enhance staff engagement and retention.

Resource Management:

  • Oversee the allocation of resources, including budget management, equipment procurement, and staffing, ensuring alignment with I3's operational priorities.
  • Monitor and forecast resource needs, collaborating with the Director to ensure strategic distribution.
  • Manage the hiring and onboarding of new staff members as I3 scales, ensuring smooth integration into the team.

Performance Evaluation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop and implement performance metrics to assess operational workflows and team efficiency.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing processes, enhancing cross-vertical collaboration, and improving overall resource management.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience leading and influencing teams.
  • Proven experience driving department wide process improvement initiatives.
  • Significant experience in contract and vendor management, including negotiations.
  • Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $94,640 - $169,520 per year for the role of Operations Manager- Intelligent Imaging Informatics.
