Superintendent TTU K-12
Position Description Serves as chief executive of TTU K-12. Responsible for developing and managing a strong TTU K-12 Program that is recognized and respected; will represent the school in the accreditation process and assure compliance to Education Code and rules. Develops policies, recruits, markets, and provides general advice on K-12 education.

About the Department and/or College Texas Tech University K-12, a unit of the Texas Tech University Online division, is a state-approved online kindergarten through 12th-grade school that has been meeting students' needs for more than 25 years.

TTU K-12 began in 1993 as a "Special Purpose District" designed to help students whose educational needs were not adequately met by traditional school districts. Since then, we have grown to serve students across the country and more than 70 nations around the world.
Major/Essential Functions
- Reporting directly to the Vice Provost of TTU Online, the TTU K-12 superintendent serves as chief executive of TTU K-12, overseeing all TTU K-12 operations including but not limited to academics, staffing, marketing, and technology.
- Develops new special project partnerships across the state, region, nation, and as appropriate internationally - which may require on occasion extensive travel.
- Develops policies and provides general advice on K-12 matters to the Vice Provost for TTU Online.
- Works with TTU Online Leadership on special projects and initiatives dealing with TTU K-12.
- Works with various stakeholders including TEA, SBOE, and other regulatory bodies to advocate for TTU K-12.
- Oversees and maintains TTU K-12s accreditation and compliance with federal, state, international, and local policies.
- Analyzes data and implements processes for continual improvement and student success as demonstrated through strategic plan execution and goal attainment.
- Serves as non-voting Chair of the TTU K-12 Advisory Board.
- Manages the K-12 budget, with guidance from the Senior Director of Finance, oversight from the K-12 Advisory Board, and final approval from the Vice Provost for TTU Online.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Campus-Level Administrative Experience.
- District-Level Administrative Experience.
- Flexibility to address challenges outside those of a traditional school district.
- Visionary leader that respects tradition but looks for continual improvement.
- Meets qualifications and fulfill responsibilities outlined in BJA (Legal), unless otherwise waived by the Texas State Board of Education in establishing TAC Chapter 61.101, Special Purpose Public School Districts.
Required Qualifications Master's degree in Educational Administration/Educational Leadership; Texas Superintendent Certificate or ability to obtain Texas Superintendent Certification with at least three years' experience as a K-12 administrator, including time spent as a principal, assistant superintendent, or superintendent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Educational Administration/Leadership or another field relevant to K-12.
- Experience managing virtual learning K-12 programs (not including the 2020 pandemic).
- Experience with international K-12 education.
