POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Pathology Laboratory Supervisors or the Senior Manager of Anatomic Pathology, performs a variety of duties, including cross-campus transporting of surgical tissue, cytology specimens, or other biospecimens (e.g. blood, urine); surgical pathology blocks and slides; laboratory reagents and supplies, and consult pathology specimens to and from areas within the hospital to the main pathology laboratory located at 670 Albany Street 3rd floor. Assists decedent affairs office with patient transport and preparation for autopsy as necessary. Works in the pathology department reviewing and editing surgical pathology gross descriptions and final diagnoses, prepared by the pathologist assistants using dragon software. Ensuring that the transcription and grammar is correct, complete, and has a consistent style. Type's surgical pathology final reports into the laboratory information system. Ensuring outside consult reports are typed in a timely manner into the patient's pathology report. Coordinates frozen section procedures between the operating room and the pathology department. Packaging slides/block requests to various outside hospitals for 2nd opinions.
