Electric Utility Project Manager - 75% Remote Position

Genesis10 is currently seeking an Electric Utility Project Manager with our client located in West Virginia and Maryland. Candidates need to be located or relocate within an hour of Williamsport, MD; Frederick, MD or Morgantown, WV. This is a direct-hire, hybrid W2 position. This position will be remote 75% and travel 25%.

Job Description:

The Project Manager will manage, direct and coordinate all aspects of the work related to the installation of new, rebuilding, and re-conductoring high-voltage overhead transmission lines, as well as oversight of substation projects. On a day to day basis they will lead the project management team responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the completion of all activities for the engineering, design, procurement, and construction of major capital projects and programs. They will be responsible for high complexity projects and/or programs on behalf of our team and therefore pivotal to our success.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with all applicable stakeholders on your project(s) to ensure that communication across the lines is established and maintained throughout the life cycle of the project(s).
  • Act as the primary point of contact with the client regarding your project(s).
  • Facilitate the implementation of the company's and client's safety and health programs with your project team(s) and promote safe work practices.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the company's and client's environmental programs with your project team(s) focusing on the protection of the environment in accordance with company policy and government regulations.
  • Commit to the ideals of a client-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among clients and improve value for all our stakeholders.
  • Conduct technical reviews of specifications, drawings, contracts, addenda, and other construction documents to ensure constructability with our client's standards and specifications while utilizing the technical expertise of others as needed.
  • Conduct and direct project planning and status meetings to ensure schedule and financial adherence to projects are being maintained and significant issues are clearly disseminated to relevant participants.
  • Provide schedule updates of the engineering, construction, and budget status of each project to the appropriate management teams (internal and external).
  • Oversee and coordinate construction package reviews, pre-award meetings, field visits, and pre-award project site walk-downs.
  • Act as the single point of contact for Construction on submittals, reviews, and coordination of required project information and documents.
  • Ensure that necessary outages are identified, submitted, and communicated in a timely to avoid schedule interruptions and conflicts with other projects in the area.
  • Ensure that required permits are obtained for all fieldwork and required approvals are secured from applicable parties.
  • Mentor and/or train Project Managers and Project Coordinators.
  • Drive high performance with your project team(s) by holding effective team meetings that encourage a questioning attitude, healthy conflict, and collaboration.
  • Follow project management tenets to properly estimate, monitor, and control approved funding, resources, schedules, and project activities.
  • Distribute weekly reports to all appropriate stakeholders that detail project status.
  • Share knowledge and train additional team members.
  • Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations


  • Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion including siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout
  • Drive project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs
  • Assist with internal project financials, staffing, legal coordination, risk management, and human resource issues
  • Serve as point of contact with owner regarding efforts such as client coordination, strategic planning, scope management, budget finances, subcontracting, environmental compliance and schedule attainment
  • Assist in the development and implementation of project policies and procedures, project controls systems and the project execution plan
  • Work closely with the Project Team to confirm deliverables and services are being provided to client's satisfaction
  • Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, quality issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and any issues requiring home office support.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related field from an accredited curriculum
  • Minimum of 5 years of high voltage T&D line or substation project experience with at least 3 years related project management experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of high voltage T&D line or substation project experience with at least 5+ years related project management experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a preferred for the SR PM role but not mandatory if the candidate has additional experience
  • 15 years experience
  • Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of industry, government and public contracts on project-related matters
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel(25% -2-3 hours from home)
  • Valid driver's license required
