JOB TITLE: Business Development Officer (BDO) Revised: 3/2025

REPORTS TO: Executive Vice President FLSA: Non-Exempt GRADE: 10

SUMMARY FUNCTION: The BDO serves as a representative of Members Heritage, fostering relationships between the credit union and the communities we serve. This role requires a strong understanding of member services and products we offer. The BDO will build relationships with potential business partners and community programs to support the credit unions goals and achieve growth.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: High School Diploma or the equivalent, and a commensurate level of language, math, and reasoning skills. Must possess knowledge of methods, practices and terminology of credit union or retail banking and be self-motivated with strong organizational and relationship-building skills. 1 year of related experience required.

OF TIME Major Duties and Responsibilities:

30% Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, SEGs, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders by representing the credit union at community events, networking functions, and business outreach opportunities. This may require some availability after hours or on weekends. Promotes and educates the public on the credit union's products, services and membership benefits and is able to open accounts when out in the community.

20% Identify and pursue growth opportunities in alignment with MHCU's strategic initiatives, with special emphasis on the business strategies that achieve growth of membership and outreach to our area development districts. Assist in coordinating strategic plans, outreach strategies and communication with the branches.

15% Work with the Marketing Director to support the outreach initiatives. Ensure all necessary materials and supplies are available for events. Provide support and back up for Marketing on our website and social media platforms. Suggest marketing information and promotional materials which may be needed or impactful.

15% Work with the Learning and Development Director in expanding and coordinating education and financial literacy initiatives in local schools and communities. Partner with schools, nonprofits, and local businesses for resources and support. Engage employees as volunteers as needed.

10% Maintain a strong relationship with management to determine and recommend events and activities where MH would benefit by being represented. Provide feedback on effectiveness of events, business and community impact.

5% Actively work to ensure Credit Union compliance with OFAC< Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering and U.S.A. Patriot Act by following all Credit Union policies and procedures and attending regular training as required.

5% Perform other related duties as assigned. May lift daily work boxes and coin bags up to approximately 50 lbs, when necessary. When lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.
