Licensed Vocational Nurse-Outpatient Clinic 40268BR 40268BR Position Description Employees in this classification are responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities in an assigned correctional facility. They function within their legal scope of practice and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the organization and practice setting. Work is performed under the direction of a registered nurse as part of a total correctional managed health care team in providing safe and competent care to patients. Major/Essential Functions This is a Monday thru Friday position only, no weekends or holidays. Provide direct support to physicians during specialty clinic appointments, ensuring efficient patient flow and care delivery. Accurately document all specialty clinic visits in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) following the conclusion of each clinic session. Prepare, operate, and maintain all necessary equipment and instruments for patient examinations, treatments and procedures. Assist with or independently perform patient exams and procedures, documenting all interventions promptly and accurately in the EMR. Complete additional duties as assigned, ensuring tasks are performed promptly and in alignment with clinic needs. Required Qualifications Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position . Current CPR certification. Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the first attempt. No experience required.
