Job Summary
- Provide legendary service to Flight Operations training center by performing engineering software/hardware modifications to SWA Flight Simulation Training Equipment within the compliance guidelines as defined in 14 CFR Part 60 and SQMS Program.

Due to the nature of this role, you would be required to work from our Dallas, TX headquarters facility during business hours.

Responsibilities
- Develop and modify computer software using various programming languages with experience across multiple simulator platforms
- Ensure software configuration control while developing enhanced software packages
- Research and resolve complex operational discrepancies requiring in-depth engineering knowledge
- Partner with Company or Vendor technical personnel in developing new and or modified equipment and software
- Design specification, procurement, and participate in acceptance testing of new or modified devices
- Incorporate Engineering Change Orders based on changes to aircraft fleet, including avionics
- Integrate hardware and software engineering changes for simulation fleet support
- Ensure compliance with 14 CFR Part 60 and SQMS Program after software or hardware modification
- Resolve complex Qualification Test Guide issues
- Provide support and training to Flight Simulation Team
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Flight Simulation equipment and their maintenance and regulatory requirements
- Skilled in excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under tight time constraints
- Ability to read documents, follow instructions, learn, and understand office procedures and various contracts
- Ability to work well with others as part of a Team, professionally interact with other departments, labor groups and possess the ability to handle complex issues
- Ability to work extended hours based on operational needs
- Ability to learn beyond current skill level
- Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and possess keen attention to detail with the ability to multitask
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of industry-related professional experience and education
Experience
- Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
- In-depth knowledge of CAE's 7000 Series R4, R5 and MAX SLD architecture and software loads
- Regulatory requirements related to the use and qualification of Flight Simulation Training Devices
- C, C++, FORTRAN, XML, and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python)
- Communication Protocols: UDP, TCP/IP, A429, A629, Blue Link
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
- Must have the ability to use hand tools and test equipment
- Must have vision ability to view and read computer terminals on a frequent basis
- Ability to climb and descend stairs and ladders
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- Must be capable of working flexible shifts
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
- Must be available to travel both domestic and international
Pay & Benefits Competitive market salary from $54.85 to $74.12 per hour* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement.
