Switchboard Operator (PRN)

General Summary of Position

The telecommunications team at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital has a PRN opening for a Switchboard Operator. This department is open 24/7 and the position requires flexible availability. The Switchboard Operator is the first point of contact for callers and will provide general information and transfer calls as needed.

Status: PRN (as-needed)

Schedule: Flexible availability to cover day, evening, and overnight shifts during the week and on weekends, as needed

PRN positions are generally not eligible for benefits.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

• 1 year Prior operator experience either as a telephone company operator or a doctor's office receptionist required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to comprehend and follow the policies and procedures for Southern Maryland Hospital Center.
• Ability to read, write and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.
• Ability to demonstrate ethical behavior that supports the hospital's mission, values and commitment to compliance with all federal, state and regulatory laws. Inspires trust and exhibits honesty and integrity within the scope of daily activities.

This position has a hiring range of $17.50 - $28.73
